MacBride Museum of Yukon History is a vibrant, interactive museum that covers more than half a city block. Exhibits feature the history of the Yukon with a focus on our capital city – Whitehorse, northern animals, First Nation beadwork and tools, transportation history, the real Sam McGee’s cabin and more. We also present special exhibits that reflect our local community.
Opened in 1952, MacBride is the Yukon’s first museum with an interesting wide-ranging collection of artifacts, photographs and documents. We welcome researchers to use our archive.
Visit our gift shop for unique Yukon treasures and books, or buy online through and have the items delivered to your door. MacBride is open all year round with special programs and events throughout the year. During the summer, we offer daily programs and give our visitors the chance to try one of Yukon’s oldest professions … gold panning.
