Life in the cold
On our three hour walk through the Yukon’s boreal forest, you will get in touch with nature. The trail takes you along a creek and then to the banks of the Yukon River. While walking along we come across animal tracks such as the snowshoe hare’s and discover their creative ways for adaptation to the winter environment. How are snowshoe hares adapted to traveling on snow? What do they eat during winter? What about the beavers and bears that live here?
Guided by a local naturalist, you will interpret the signs and understand the survival strategies of plants and animals who make the boreal forest their home.
Bring your warm winter clothing and your camera. You will have the opportunity to take your very own special pictures of a frosty environment and an iced over creek!
Or strap on some snowshoes and venture off to the alpine to enjoy great vistas and with a bit of luck see wildlife in their natural environment.
