Take to the air
Known for its history, entertainment and outdoor recreation, Dawson City is also your starting point for some of the most memorable flightseeing anywhere.
From your vantage point in a helicopter (pro tip: call dibs on the front seat), take in the view as you follow the river up the historic Klondike Valley. Fly over the goldfields and see the remarkable dredge tailings left by the mining era that followed the gold rush.
To the north is Tombstone Territorial Park, 2,200 square kilometres of protected wilderness that’s home to caribou, moose, Dall sheep, wolves, grizzlies and black bears. Watch for wildlife as you soar over tundra carpeted with colour and punctuated by impossibly blue moraine lakes. When it seems like it couldn’t get any better, it does as towering jagged peaks come into view. These rugged beauties rise toward the sky and resemble—you guessed it—tombstones.
