Since the beginning Shanti has had a deep connection to Nature, and the environment around her. Wild Wandering Woman was pioneered from the desire to live a more self-sustainable lifestyle, to know exactly where the foods she puts in her body come from, and to know exactly how that food was handled. Naturally, she then felt the obligation to use every part of the animal or plant she harvested. With the utmost respect she creates timeless jewelry and garments from fur, skin, bone, horn, antler, and porcupine quills from animals she has ethically sourced or harvested herself in the wilderness of Yukon Territory, Canada. Her hands work numerous hours de-greasing bone, trimming fur, stabilizing antler, tanning hide, polishing horn, cleaning quills and securing beads. With the addition of some locally sourced embellishments, she works carefully to perfect her finished products. Whether it has been respectfully hunted, ethically trapped, thoughtfully gathered or locally sourced, love and gratitude are the foundation of every piece she creates.
