Introduction to pack-rafting and a review of equipment. Instruction covers basic paddle strokes on lakes and rivers, river reading, ferrying and basic river rescue techniques, river travel, stroke improvement, running rapids and safety. The course provides you with the necessary skills to maneuver through Class II/III rapids. The course is suitable for complete beginners. No prior experience necessary. Course takes place over 2 weekday evenings in Whitehorse and 2 complimentary full weekend days on the Tatshenshini River.
