Moosehide Gathering is a vibrant cultural celebration hosted by the Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in at Moosehide Village, located along the Yukon River near Dawson City. Rooted in resilience, renewal, and cultural pride, the gathering honours the history, traditions, and future of the Hän people.
Inspired by the preservation efforts of Chief Isaac—who entrusted the songs and dances of his people to relatives in Alaska during the Klondike Gold Rush—the Moosehide Gathering represents a powerful cultural homecoming. These traditions were returned and revitalized in the early 1990s, leading to the first official gathering in 1993.
Today, Moosehide Gathering welcomes visitors from near and far to experience the richness of Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in culture. The event features traditional songs and dances, storytelling, regalia, local and guest performers, and community feasts. It is a time to connect, celebrate, and honour ancestors while sharing traditions with future generations.
All are welcome to join in this meaningful celebration of culture, community, and heritage.
