Winter in the Yukon is anything but colourless.
Join Yukon artist and designer Vanessa Aegirsdottir for a slow, creative exploration of the colours hidden in the northern winter landscape. Using Vanessa’s handmade watercolours, you’ll create a small painting inspired by place while discovering a different way of seeing the Yukon in its quietest season.
Winter Is the Palette is a 90-minute, small-group painting experience led by professional artist and designer Vanessa Aegirsdottir.
Vanessa’s art practice is rooted in close observation of place and includes watercolour paints she makes by hand using earth and mineral pigments. During this relaxed, beginner-friendly experience, she’ll introduce you to her materials and creative process before guiding you through a small Yukon-inspired watercolour painting of your own.
This isn’t about learning to paint “correctly.” It’s an invitation to slow down and notice the subtle colour, texture and character of a northern winter—the blue and violet shadows of snow, muted vegetation, stone, bark, sky and the warm earth tones that persist beneath the white.
All materials are provided, and no previous painting experience is necessary. You’ll leave with your finished artwork and a small selection of Vanessa’s handmade watercolours so you can continue exploring after your Yukon visit.
Winter Is the Palette is offered by arrangement at select locations throughout the Yukon, allowing the experience to become part of your existing winter itinerary—at a tourism venue, as part of a group experience, or in another suitable gathering space. Location, group size and availability are confirmed directly with Vanessa Aegirsdottir Co. before booking. Additional travel costs may apply depending on location and will always be confirmed in advance.
Because Vanessa prepares the handmade watercolours and materials for each experience, please allow at least 7 days’ notice when booking whenever possible. Short-notice experiences may be available depending on group size, location and materials on hand, while larger groups may require additional preparation time.

Experiences begin at $125 CAD per person. Minimum participant requirements may apply depending on the location and booking. Travel outside the Whitehorse area may be subject to an additional fee, which will always be confirmed before booking.
Because the handmade watercolours and materials used for each experience require preparation, please allow at least 7 days’ notice when booking whenever possible. Short-notice bookings may be available depending on group size, location and materials on hand. Larger groups may require additional preparation time.
Your experience is considered confirmed once the date, time, location, number of participants and final price have been agreed upon and payment has been received. Please do not purchase before these details have been confirmed with Vanessa Aegirsdottir Co.
All painting materials are provided and no previous painting experience is necessary. Handmade pigments and natural materials vary by nature, so the colours and materials used during individual experiences may vary.
Cancellations made at least 48 hours before the confirmed experience may be rescheduled, subject to availability, or refunded. Cancellations within 48 hours and no-shows are non-refundable.
If Vanessa Aegirsdottir Co. must cancel an experience, guests may reschedule to another mutually agreeable date or receive a full refund.
Experiences may take place at third-party venues and tourism locations. Guests are responsible for any admission, transportation, activity or other third-party costs not specifically included in their confirmed booking.
