Take yourself on a tour of Dredge No. 4

Pan for gold at Free Claim No. 6
Gold panning at Free Claim No. 6 is an activity you and your family won’t want to miss. It’s a major part of Dawson City’s history and it’s a great way to enrich your vacation experience, even if you only find a pile of rocks or one of your contact lenses. Equipment isn’t supplied, so grab your gear at the Dawson City Hardware Store or Trading Post.
Discover Dawson City by foot
Exploring downtown at a walking pace is the best way to take it all in. The Writers’ Block will add a little education to your vacation, with places like Robert Service Cabin, Jack London Cabin, Pierre Berton House and more. The Dawson City Cemetery Walking Tours are also a fun history lesson that’s only spooky when it’s dark, which is pretty much never in the summer. Grab a map at the Dawson City Visitor Information Centre.
Upgrade from sightseeing to flightseeing
The Yukon has some of the wildest and remote landscapes in the world, and the experienced pilots of Great River Air know where to take you for the most spectacular vistas around Dawson.
Hike around town
You don’t have to get out of town to feel like you’re escaping civilization. Take a hike on 9th Ave Trail, the Midnight Dome Trail, Crocus Bluff, Discovery Claim or Orchid Acres. And don’t forget to grab a map, available at the Dawson City Visitors Information Centre.
Golfing is a go
Golfers rejoice! Dawson City Golf Course is open, so you can dust off those clubs and use self isolation as an excuse for your rusty swing. Plus, the midnight sun gives you a few more hours to perfect your game.
Top things off at the Midnight Dome
See Dawson City’s most recognizable landmark, complete with its rock-face scar known as the Moosehide Slide. Drive or hike to the top to enjoy the breathtaking panorama of the Yukon River Valley. Don’t forget to snap a photo and tag it with #visitdawsoncity.
